At the latest Leitchfield Utilities Commission meeting, commissioners opened bids for a new pickup truck for the utility.

Three bids were received, two from Toyota of Bowling Green and the other from Don Moore Toyota. The Toyota of Bowling Green bids were for a 2018 Toyota Tacoma, priced at $31,849, and a 2019 Toyota Tacoma for $31,559.

Don Moore Toyota’s bid was also for a 2018 Toyota Tacoma, priced at $34,661.

Commissioners unanimously decided to purchase the 2019 Tacoma from Toyota of Bowling.

Water Plant update

Leitchfield Utilities will advertise for bids for the water treatment plant project and open those bids on November 15.

In early September, Utilities Chairman Bob Crawford said the project had received approval from United States Rural Development to advertise for bids for the capital project.

The new water treatment plant will be built adjacent to the current plant at 3245 Lewis School Road. The plant was built in 1968.

The project is expected to cost approximately $8 million, with a $2.4 million grant and $5.6 million loan funding the work.
