Police are searching for an Adair County inmate who escaped while being transported from a courthouse back to jail.

Authorities are looking for 25-year-old William C. Loy, of Columbia, who escaped at approximately 11:00 Tuesday night as he was being taken from the Adair Judicial Center to the Adair County Regional Jail.

Loy was last seen wearing gray sweatpants and a red and green sweatshirt with either the letter “A” or “E” on the front. He stands 5-foot-6 and weighs 140 pounds, and has brown hair.
