The Adair County inmate who escaped custody the night of November 15 has been captured.

On Sunday, Kentucky State Police Trooper Clint Bale received information that 25-year-old William C. Loy, of Columbia, was located at a home on Spring Street in Columbia, and that the escapee was armed.

Bale, along with the Columbia Police Department, Adair County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky Fish and Wildlife personnel, converged on the residence and “attempted to call out Loy on the P.A.,” according to police.

At that time, the homeowner gave police consent to search the residence, with authorities finding Loy hiding behind several mattresses.

Loy was in jail following his June indictment by the Adair County Grand Jury for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), theft by unlawful taking, public intoxication, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He has been additionally charged with escape and resisting arrest.

He is lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
