A Grayson County man has been arrested on drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop revealed he was in possession of over two ounces of methamphetamine.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force executed a traffic stop on 57-year-old Ronnie E. Cockriel at the Clarkson Park & Ride in the 900 block of Millerstown Road.

During a subsequent search of Cockriel’s vehicle, police located over two ounces of methamphetamine and a needle in the suspect’s pocket (after he told police he did not have anything on his person that would stick them). Authorities then obtained and executed a search warrant for Cockriel’s residence and outbuilding, located in the 4000 block of Peonia Road.

Cockriel was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), wanton endangerment of a police officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is being held in the Grayson County Detention Center.

Along with task force members, assisting at the traffic stop were GCSO Sgt. Fred Norder, Deputy DJ Newton and LPD Officer Sgt. Robert Jackson. Executing the search warrant at Cockriel’s residence were task force members and Deputies Newton, Rance Whobrey and Mark Johnson.

The investigation continues.
