(Leitchfield, KY) – The K105 – Dale Woosely and Carter Harrell State Farm First Responder of the Week is Leitchfield Volunteer Fireman and  EMT Billy Dallas.  Dallas said he became intrigued with becoming a first responder at a young age as he would watch his father leave for fire runs, eventually around the age of 10,  Dallas said his father would let him ride along to the runs where he would sit in the truck and watche the firemen battle the blaze.  On November 2, 1982 an 18-year-old Dallas officially followed in his father’s footsteps and became a Leitchfield Volunteer Fireman.

Soon after, Dallas made a decision to become an EMT when Kevin Pharis decided to take-over the daily operations of the ambulance service, and has made a career of being an EMT.  Dallas has served as the Assistant Service Director for Grayson Co. EMS for the past 28 years, and calls being a first responder a gift.

Dallas was nominated by several colleagues.  When asked about the next generation of first responders he said it’s important to expose high-school aged students to first responding opportunities, like CPR classes, because it will awaken within them the call to be the next first responder.
