The Munfordville man found who pled guilty to placing glass shards in drinking cups being distributed to restaurants has been sentenced to federal prison.

Waylon Horton, 44, was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison after pleading guilty in July to tampering with consumer products when he was employed by Dart Container Corp., in Horse Cave. Horton admitted to placing glass shards into the Styrofoam cups twice in 2016.

During the investigation, authorities found glass shards in cups at restaurants in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Distribution of the cups was then halted, with glass shards found in seven more containers scheduled to be shipped to restaurants. No serious injuries were reported.

Once released from prison, Horton will serve two years of supervised release.
