At Thursday night’s Grayson County School Board meeting, Director of Pupil Personnel Sonny Prunty reported on the results of a survey offering three options which will help determine next year’s school calendar.

The survey was available on the district’s website and recorded over 1,400 votes.

The survey offered three options for the 2019-2020 school year, with the top two options to be discussed and voted on at the next school board meeting in January.

The two options that received the most votes:

Option A – First day of school for students would be August 7, with the last day of the school year May 15; Fall Break would be from October 7 to October 11; Christmas Break would be from December 19 until January 2; Spring Break would be from April 6 until April 10.

Option A received 381 votes (27 percent).

Option C – First day of school for students would be August 7, with the last day of the school year May 15; Fall Break would be from October 7 until October 11; Christmas Break would be from December 20 until January 6; Spring Break would be from April 6 until April 10.

Option C was the overwhelming choice of those who voted in the survey, as it received 825 votes (57 percent).

The only difference in Options A and C is the placement of Christmas Break dates.
