Sunday morning at approximately 9:00, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responded to 8000 block of Owensboro Road on the report of a single-car accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, Grayson County Deputy Rance Whobrey found a westbound Dodge passenger car, being driven by 49-year-old Anthony Lykins, of Leitchfield, “took a sudden left, traveling across the eastbound lane” before leaving the roadway and striking an embankment. The vehicle traveled along the embankment about 60 yards before striking a culvert, according to Whobrey.

The Dodge then flipped, end over end, coming to rest on its passenger side.

The Leitchfield FD had to extract Lykins from inside the car by taking off the roof of the vehicle.

Lykins was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center by EMS with non-life threatening injuries. He later told Whobrey that he swerved in the roadway to avoid hitting a deer.
