A Morgantown woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing hundreds of dollars from an elderly Ohio County resident.
Ohio County Sheriff Tracy Beatty said that in late December the sheriff’s office began an investigation into the exploitation of an adult. Beatty said during the investigation, it was determined that 31-year-old Molly Johnson financially exploited an 84-year-old man out of an undisclosed amount of money on one occasion and attempted to exploit the same victim on another occasion.
All the incidents occurred in late December 2018.
Johnson was arrested in Morgantown on Thursday afternoon and charged with knowingly exploiting an adult (over $300), and lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center on a $2,500 cash bond.
The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are likely, according to Beatty.
