Authorities asking for help locating teen who disappeared in late October

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating an Owensboro teen who disappeared on October 30.

Kayla N. Sweeney, 15, is considered an endangered runaway. She left her Owensboro home shortly after her brother’s funeral. He was killed in a September car accident.

Sweeney had been placed in an Owensboro home by the Department of Community Services. She is originally from Hardin County, where authorities believe she may be.

Kayla is described as a white female standing 5-foot-7 and weighing 130 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Sweeney’s case also is listed with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.

Anyone with information on Sweeney’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Owensboro Police Department at 270-687-8888.
