Three Hardin County men were arrested Tuesday after assaulting and robbing a man in his home.

Tuesday morning at approximately 2:00, two men, 21-year-old Elijah McQueary, of Elizabethtown, and 23-year-old Dontarrius Meriweather, of Vine Grove, illegally entered a Vine Grove residence and were stealing property when the male homeowner confronted the suspects.

The victim asked the two men to leave, but the suspects assaulted the homeowner and left the home with his property.

The victim told police he knew the suspects, according to a report by the News-Enterprise. Police were also familiar with the men because of previous contact with the men. When officers arrived at the suspects’ residence, police discovered several items stolen during the robbery along with drugs and a shotgun.

McQueary was arrested and charged with robbery, trafficking in marijuana (more than eight ounces, enhanced by the presence of a firearm) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Meriweather was charged with trafficking in marijuana (more than eight ounces, enhanced by the presence of a firearm) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Also arrested at the residence was 21-year-old Dennis Barnett Jr., of Elizabethtown, who was charged with trafficking in marijuana (more than eight ounces, enhanced by the presence of a firearm) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In the residence containing the three suspects, police located a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, two boxes of shotgun shells, three bags of marijuana (nine ounce), $570 in cash, digital scales, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are possible.
