Two Kentucky teachers have been charged this week with having inappropriate sexual relationships with students.

A Letcher County teacher, Charles E. Hall Jr., 45, of Jackson, was indicted on third-degree rape, third-degree sodomy and possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor charges, as well as for trying to convince the 14-year-old victim not to testify against him.

Hall was a teacher at Letcher County Alternative School and a former assistant football coach at Letcher County Central High School. He also taught at Letcher Middle School, according to media reports.

Police say the Hall committed the acts between April and November of last year.

On Wednesday, a Harrison County elementary school teacher was arrested after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year-old boy.

Kentucky State Police arrested 37-year-old Amanda Phillips, of Cynthiana, and charged her with first-degree sexual abuse. Phillips was a special needs teacher at Eastwood Elementary School, with the victim a former student at the school.

According to media reports, Phillips admitted to having an inappropriate relationship with the boy at her home.

She has been terminated, according to a Harrison County Board of Education statement.

The case remains under investigation.
