Local and regional leaders were in Frankfort on Wednesday and met with Transportation Cabinet Secretary Greg Thomas and Deputy Secretary Paul Looney.

Grayson County Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson said joining him in Frankfort were State Sen. Steve Meredith, Leitchfield Mayor Rick Embry and former State Rep./State Sen. Richie Sanders.

Henderson said the group met with Thomas and Looney to discuss future road projects in Grayson County, and it appears the news the Grayson County lobbyists received was positive.

“It looks like the widening of Highway 62 from Leitchfield to Central Milling Company in Clarkson will begin this spring,” Henderson said, before adding that the William Thomason Byway Extension from Hwy 259 south to Hwy 54 “is also moving forward,” as environmental studies have been approved and the purchasing of rights-of-way should begin as early as this fall.
