GC Middle School Academic Team wins Governor’s Cup

Strong individual and team showings led the Grayson County Middle School Academic Team to an overall first place finish at District Governor’s Cup competition.

The Future Problem Solvers team took first place with Quick Recall competitors coming in third.

In addition, the team was awarded the Hume Sportsmanship Award, a coveted honor voted on by all participating teams.

Individual awards for written assessments went to: Colton Glenn third place in Math, Blaine Aubrey fourth place in Science, Landon Shiarella, second place in Social Studies, Blain Aubrey third place in Social Studies, Cole Bryant fifth place in Social Studies, Jordan Grant second place in Language Arts, Madison Stamper fourth place in Language Arts, Audrey Lee first place in Humanities, Cooper Lee fifth place in Arts and Humanities, Audrey Lee, first place in Composition, Sierra Secora, third place in Composition, and Mackenzie England fourth place in Composition.

In other school news, several Grayson County High School musicians have been selected for the ninth and tenth grade All-District Band.

The musicians include: Mason VanMeter, Ethan Priddy, Reuben Elmore, Kennadi Walters, Lexi Darst, Shaina Portman, Kristen Decker, Kylie Brown, Liberty Reneer, Sarah Milliner, Abigail Geary, Thomas Day, and Jay Bracket.

They will join Princess Reed, Natasha Ramsey, Rylie Hayes, Alexis Harmon, Devin Coon, Trevor Kincheloe, Jeremiah Embry, and Mason Parker who were previously selected to perform in the All-District Symphonic Band.
