The Leitchfield woman arrested in November 2018 on three counts of second-degree animal cruelty has agreed to a plea deal.

Then-26-year-old Alexis Cilyok was arrested after the Leitchfield Animal Shelter Animal Control Officer and Leitchfield Police Department found three of her dogs suffering from gross malnourishment and other maladies. Officials had received multiple complaints about animal abuse at the Owensboro Road property.

The plea deal, which calls for Cilyok to serve four days in jail, with a 90-day probated sentence, requires her to sign over all three dogs to the Animal Shelter, and to not own any dogs for the next two years. She faced up to one-year in jail on the class A misdemeanor charges.

“One of the dogs is heartworm positive, but other than that they are all doing well,” Leitchfield Animal Shelter Director Jessica Williams said.
