Georgia Viola Embry Wilson, age 84, formerly of Watershed Road in Caneyville, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the Edmonson Nursing and Rehab Center in Brownsville.

She was born on May 22, 1934 in Grayson County, to Elva and Elma Bozarth Embry.  She attended school in Caneyville and graduated from Caneyville High School in 1951.  In 1954, she married the love of her life Floyd David Wilson, who preceded her in death after they had been married for 59 years.  She was an employee of South Central Bell Telephone Company in Louisville, Kentucky for 17 years.

Many friends and family knew her as Granny or Georgie.  When she was able, she enjoyed going to church, attending singings, and traveling.  At a young age, she was saved in the old Walnut Grove School house and later became a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

Georgia Embry Wilson is survived by one son, David Thomas Wilson (Sandy) of Sweeden; three grandchildren, Aaron Wilson (Merrialyce) of Clarkson, DeAnna Butler (Andy) of Caneyville, Faith Elmore (Nathan) of Chalybeate; three great-grandchildren, Isaac, Ethan, and Sophie Butler; three sisters-in-law, Mary T. Embry, Helen Wilson, Barbara Darst (Jimmy), and several nieces and nephews.  Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Roberta Lee, a brother Atlee Embry, and a niece Patty Winn.

Funeral services will be Sunday, February 24th at 2:00 p.m. at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Bro. Joe Brooks officiating.  Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday; Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until time for services at 2:00 p.m.
