The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Grayson and surrounding counties until 12:15 a.m. Sunday.

In Grayson County, law enforcement and Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall are reporting multiple areas where water is over the roadway:

  • Currently, Hwy 62 just east of the intersection with Shrewsbury Road, has a significant amount of water over the roadway, but at the moment is passable. Law enforcement is on the scene in an attempt to slow traffic.
  • There is also water over the roadway on Millerstown Street, in front of Clarkson Elementary School. According to Clarkson PD Chief Buck Meredith, the water level has lowered and risen multiple times over a period of about 30 minutes.
  • Meredith also reports, at 5:10 p.m., that there is four to six inches of water over the roadway in the 3000 block of Millerstown Road.
  • Duvall reports that Graffiti Lane, just off Kiper Road, is completely impassable.
  • Leitchfield police report the Artesian Way and North Radford Way, leading into Beville Park, is completely flooded.

Please exercise extreme caution when traveling Saturday evening. With darkness nearly upon the area, high water may not be visible until it’s too late.

The state highway department has been dispatched to place warning cones in proximity to the flooded areas.

K105.com will provide updates on water covered roadways as those reports come in.
