Monday night at approximately 8:00, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7500 block of Peonia Road on the report of an intoxicated driver traveling into a ditch.

Upon arriving at the scene, Deputies DJ Newton and Rance Whobrey, along with Special Deputy Brian Pharis, found that 50-year-old Teresa Welch, of Clarkson, had traveled to a cemetery, where the old Peonia Christian Church once stood. She told deputies she went there to pray.

As Welch was leaving the horseshoe drive in a Ford Thunderbird, she missed her turn by about 30 feet, driving between a large tree and old sign post and into a ditch.

Deputies arrested Welch after determining she was under the influence of alcohol. She was charged with her second DUI since 2016 and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
