Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Barren County Detention Center on Wednesday.

Police are looking for 44-year-old Shannon Wyatt, of Scottsville. He escaped Wednesday night at approximately 8:50 as he slipped out an unsecured door as he was waiting to be processed into the facility, according to jail officials. Wyatt was transferred to the Barren County Detention Center from the Allen County Detention Center.

He was arrested on two warrants out of Monroe County (Barren County houses Monroe Co. inmates), and has a lengthy criminal history dating back to at least 1999.

Authorities said Wyatt stands 5-foot-9 and weighs 250 pounds. He has a short goatee, and a tattoo of the grim reaper on his left arm, and a tattoo of a dream catcher with an eagle on his upper right arm.

Anyone with information on Wyatt’s whereabouts is asked to contact Kentucky State Police at 270-676-3313
