Alex Scott fired a one-hitter on Wednesday and the Cougar baseball team shutout the visiting Hart County Raiders 10-0 in six innings at Don Lee Field.

Scott was in complete control despite walking three and hitting two batters. The only hit he allowed came in the fifth inning when second-baseman Clay Goodman dumped a short fly ball into right field.

The Raiders loaded the bases in that inning with two outs, but Scott struck out third-baseman Chad Roe to end the inning. He then worked a 1-2-3 sixth inning to win the game.

The Cougars scored all they would need in the first inning. Damon Simon dumped a one-out double down the line in right, moved to third on a fly-ball out by Briley Napier, then came home to score on a double to left-center by Cain Smith.

Grayson County added a run in the third inning to make it 2-0. Ryan Johnson led off with a double to right, moved to third on a ground out by Noah Bullock, then scored on a ground out by Simon.

The Cougars added four runs in the fourth to make it 6-0. Dain Hawkins, Johnson and Bullock all drove in runs in the inning.

Grayson County added two runs in the fifth inning to make it 8-0, setting up the final inning in the sixth. With one out, Johnson reached on an error then moved to second on a passed ball.

Bullock was hit by a pitch, putting runners at first and second. Johnson then stole third before Bullock went to second on another passed ball. Simon struck out for the second out, but Napier singled into the hole at short to drive in both runners and end the game by the mercy rule.
