With construction continuing on the community’s newest home, Central Kentucky Community Foundation’s (CKCF) Home of Philanthropy, financial support for the project is also building.
In an announcement Friday at The Home of Philanthropy, CKCF President and CEO Davette B. Swiney launched a capital campaign to engage the community in support of the project. Making a lead gift to the campaign was The Cecilian Bank President and CEO Greg Pawley who pledged $250,000 on behalf of the bank’s board and its employees.
“In keeping with our core values, The Cecilian Bank’s leadership and employees are committed to building up our neighbors and making our community stronger,” Pawley said. “We are blessed to be a part of this great community, and we proudly support CKCF’s Home of Philanthropy, in their efforts to enhance the region. The Cecilian Bank has invested $250,000 in this project, so that CKCF can continue to carry out their mission to create a thriving, healthy community.”
“The Cecilian Bank’s leadership gift demonstrates their belief not only in Central Kentucky Community Foundation, but in our communities,” Swiney said. “The future for our region is exciting and that is in part due to the increasing role philanthropy can play in community enhancement. We are so grateful to The Cecilian Bank for their commitment to our community and belief in CKCF’s role in shaping it.”
The capital campaign goal is to raise $1.3 million of the $3 million projected costs through philanthropy. With The Cecilian Bank’s leadership contribution, along with other gifts from community leaders, the capital campaign has now surpassed $500,000.
“This campaign is more than a building project, it is about the development of our community and enhancement of lives that starts today and leads into tomorrow,” said Capital Campaign Chair Lindsey Keith Alicna of Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance. “I have been humbled by the overwhelming support of our community and look forward to working with all of our partners in this significant project for CKCF and our region.”
“This exciting project ensures the future of this community is bright,” Alicna said. “It takes each one of us, working together, to build our home. We value your insight, knowledge and support of this groundbreaking effort and hope you join us.”
The Home of Philanthropy broke ground a year ago on land CKCF has owned for nearly 60 years. With the proximity to partners like Hardin County Schools Early College and Career Center, Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and the Hardin County Public Library, this site was a natural choice for The Home of Philanthropy.
The Home of Philanthropy is at 200 Jim Owen Drive in Elizabethtown. Construction is expected to be completed by late summer this year.
