Bryant Childress Jr., age 86, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (April 26, 2019) at Grayson Manor Nursing and Rehab in Leitchfield.

He was born on July 13, 1932 in Grayson County, Kentucky, the son of the late Bryant Sr. and Louella Brooks Childress.

He was a retired salesman for the Sunbeam Bread Company who enjoyed framing, woodworking, gardening, traveling, collecting antiques, playing Rook, and listening to bluegrass music. He was a member and Deacon of the Short Creek United Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Michael Childress of Leitchfield; two daughters, Carol Ann Rowe (Tom) of Leitchfield and Lisa French (Gary) of   Elizabethtown, KY; four grandchildren, Mika Tyler (Matt) of Elizabethtown, Olin “O.J.” Graczyk (Hanna) of St. Louis, Missouri, Clifton “C.J.” Graczyk (Emily) of Leitchfield, and Chase Richardson of Jacksonville, AL; Four step-grandchildren, Jennifer Payne of Elizabethtown, Brandon Rowe, Justin Rowe and Josh Rowe, all of Florida; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Floyd Eugene Childress of Big Clifty; and two sisters, Mary Frances Langdon of Leitchfield and Betty Jo Baker of Clarkson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eveline Farris Childress, his sisters, Anna Lou Hunter, Wanda Ray Bradley and Maxine Bush; and his brothers, Lonnie and Clyde Pat Childress.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, (May 1, 2019) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bros. Ronald Renfro and Tommy Jackson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
