In an effort to renew interest in the case and possibly create new leads, the FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information concerning the murder of a Bardstown police officer almost six years ago.

Officer Jason Ellis, 33, was gunned down in the early morning hours of May 25, 2013, as he stopped to remove debris off an exit ramp from the Bluegrass Parkway, in Nelson County.

In a Facebook post and in honor of National Police Week, the FBI announced they are offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identity, arrest and conviction of those responsible for Ellis’ death.

Kentucky State Police continues to investigate the case.

Ellis left behind his wife Amy and two sons.
