A man has been airlifted after he was rear-ended on Lilac Road as he rode a scooter.

Monday afternoon at approximately 4:45, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Sonny Poteet and Leitchfield Police Department Detective Kevin Smith, the Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responded to the 1800 block of Lilac Road on the report of a two-vehicle accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found that a northbound Nissan Rogue rear-ended a KYMCO Super 8 150X scooter as it slowed to turn right onto Cave Mill Road. The impact tossed the man off the scooter and into the roadway, while the scooter slid across the pavement and off the road.

The man suffered severe road rash and other injuries, but was responsive at the scene.

The male victim, whose identity was not available, was transported by EMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital. The female driver of the Nissan, whose identity was also not available, was uninjured.
