An Edmonson County boy has been recognized for saving his grandfather’s life.
Logan Powell, 7, of Brownsville, was awarded a medal and certificate from the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office. In late May, Powell and his grandfather, Leroy Childress, were hunting for arrowheads in a cornfield when Childress collapsed, according to media reports. Powell quickly grabbed Childress’ cellphone and called his family for help.
Powell said he wants to wear his medal on his first day of second grade in August.
Childress is home and recovering from the incident.
