Two Hardin County men are recovering from injuries suffered in a plane crash at the Vine Grove airport.

Josef Schroeder, 75, of Radcliff, and Daniel Brooks, 34, of Rineyville, suffered multiple fractures in the crash as the two-seat plane, a Piper Cub, clipped several trees as Schroeder attempted to land at about 6:30 Sunday night.

Vine Grove Fire Department Chief Steve New told the News-Enterprise that it took firefighters “a lengthy period of time” to extricate the two men from the wreckage. Both victims are recovering at University of Louisville Hospital.

The FAA continues to investigate the crash.
