An elderly Beaver Dam man has been charged with trafficking in pills.

On Tuesday, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding the alleged sale of prescription medication in the Beaver Dam area. The person allegedly selling the pills was identified as Wendell Johnston, 76, of Beaver Dam, according to Sheriff Tracy Beatty.

Detectives purchased several prescription pills from Johnston on Tuesday, and based upon that transaction, and other information obtained by the sheriff’s office during its investigation, deputies obtained a search warrant for Johnston’s residence.

Members of the sheriff’s office and the Beaver Dam Police Department executed the warrant Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 where police located several prescription pill bottles and drug paraphernalia.

Johnston was charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (drug unspecified) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was cited into court, according to Beatty.
