A father and son have been arrested in Hopkins County after abducting two people at gunpoint.

On Friday, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to a missing persons report after a 20-year-old male and 29-year-old female were last seen during the late afternoon hours of Thursday in White Plains riding a UTV.

While police were interviewing family members of the two missing people, the victims returned home, clearly suffering from injuries, according to SurfKyNews.com. Police determined that the unnamed victims were riding the UTV when they were forced off the road at gunpoint by 48-year-old Danny Massey and 22-year-old Dustin Massey, both of White Plains.

The victims were assaulted by the Massey’s during the abduction, according to the news outlet, and taken to a residence at 325 Ogelsby Cemetery Road where the victims were bound and chained in a pit. They were also shown homemade explosive devices and threatened for several hours before being released.

After interviewing the victims, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, ATF, FBI, and Kentucky State Police obtained a search warrant for the Ogelsby Cemetery Road property. Police seized explosive devices and other bomb-making equipment.

Further investigation showed that Dustin Massey was a suspect in a previously reported incident by one of the kidnapping victims.

The Massey were arrested Saturday night and charged with kidnapping (adult) and tampering with a witness. Additional charges are anticipated. They are both being held in the Hopkins County Detention Center on $50,000 cash bonds.
