Roger Barry Day, age 68, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (August 15, 2019) at his residence in Leitchfield, KY.

He was born on May 27, 1951 in Short Creek, KY, the son of the late Charlie Boyd Sr. and Imogene Zella Bradshaw Day.

He was a retired mechanic for the Civil Service. He enjoyed farming, working at the saw mill and doing mechanic work on cars and tractors. Barry was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 81 and the Sons of American Legion in Leitchfield. He currently was the Finance Officer and dual manager of Post 81 and the SAL, served as advisor on the board of Post 81 and the SAL board and currently was BINGO Co-chairman.   He had also past served as Commander of American Legion Post 81 from 1991-1992, First and Second Vice Commander, founding board member of the Legion Riders, and on the Athletic Board. He was a member of the Short Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his son, Anthony Bryan Day (Sara) of Clarkson; daughter, Amy Lynn Skaggs of Leitchfield; brothers, Boyd Day (Becky), Bill Day (Connie) and Benny Day; sister, Bonnie Langley; six grandchildren, Katlynn and Kyler Bratcher, Adalynn Wilkerson, Benjamin and Brycen Day and Justin Whobrey; and several nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Day Thomas.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, (August 18, 2019) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Jim Butler will be officiating. Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens Cemetery. American Legion Post 81 will be conducting military honors.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.
