A dump truck loaded with blacktop crashed on Owensboro Road, closing the roadway for about four hours.

Friday just after noon, Grayson County Sgt. Fred Norder arrived on scene and found that a 2018 International dump truck, being driven by 39-year-old Shawn D. Taylor, of Guston, had just left Scotty’s Contracting and was traveling west on Owensboro Road when the vehicle traveled into a ditch, according to Norder. Taylor overcorrected the truck, flipping the vehicle onto its side and spilling blacktop all over the roadway.

Taylor was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

It took about four hours to clear the roadway of the spilled blacktop, Norder said, with several Scotty’s employees helping with the effort, along with members of the Leitchfield Fire Department. State highway workers also arrived on scene and aided in the cleanup.

Authorities alerted the Grayson County School District to the accident, resulting in several school buses being re-routed as students were transported home from school.

They dump truck is owned by Wild George Truck out of Elizabethtown.
