The Leitchfield Police Department and Grayson County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating a rash of overnight break-ins.

Grayson County Central Dispatch continues to receive calls Wednesday morning from victims of mostly vehicle break-ins (as people leave for work), raising the total number of burglaries of residences or vehicles to well over 20.

The break-ins are spread throughout Leitchfield proper, with two burglary reports originating from outside the city limits.

Multiple officers are working the case.

It appears at this juncture that the multiple suspects picked a street, and went down that street checking for unlocked cars. Kegley Drive, in north Leitchfield, appears to be one of the hardest hit areas.

Reports indicate the break-ins resulted in the theft of many items, but in some cases, the vehicle was only ransacked as the perpetrators searched for something of value to steal.

No suspects have yet been identified but the investigation continues.
