Kentucky State Police arrested an Owensboro man in Ohio County after a two-part, 30-plus mile pursuit.

At approximately 4:00 Monday afternoon, the Warren County Sheriff Office attempted to execute a traffic stop on a 2017 Dodge Ram truck on I-165 north, near the eight mile marker.

According to authorities, the driver, 30-year-old Levi Dustin Lyons, of Owensboro, fled from deputies at a high rate of speed, with police terminating the pursuit as Lyons entered Butler County. At the 27 mile marker of I-65, a Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Officer spotted Lyons, with Troopers taking the lead in the chase as the pursuit entered Ohio County. Soon after entering Ohio County, KSP deployed a tire deflation device, flattening two of the truck’s tires.

Police said Lyons then drove his truck into two marked KSP cruisers. Soon after, a trooper performed a PIT maneuver on the vehicle, bringing the pursuit to a halt at the 55 mile marker.

Lyons was taken into custody without incident and lodged in Ohio County Detention Center. He’s been charged with attempted murder (police officer), second-degree assault, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, fleeing or evading police, and DUI (aggravating circumstances) along with moving and non-moving violations.
