The U.S. Geological Survey reports that an earthquake struck between Somerset and London on Saturday afternoon.

Officials said the 2.7-magnitude earthquake happened about 13 miles north of downtown Somerset and 30 miles south of Berea. The quake was centered nearly 3.5 miles below the earth’s surface, according to officials.

Saturday’s earthquake marked the second such occurrence in Kentucky over a three day period after a 2.4-magnitude earthquake occurred just outside of Shelbyville on Thursday.
