Tonya Layne Smith, age 39, of Leitchfield, passed away Tuesday, (October 15, 2019) at her residence in Leitchfield, KY.
She was born on May 17, 1980 in Elizabethtown, KY, the daughter of Scott Smith and Marsha VanMeter Smith.
She worked as an assistant manager at Burger King and Papa John’s; was an assistant manager at Parkway Apartment Complex in Caneyville, and was a receptionist at Caneyville Family Medical Center. Tonya graduated from Grayson County High School in 1998. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, attending to her flowers and being outdoors. She was a plain country girl at heart. She especially loved her Yorkie dogs. She was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Tonya was a member of Claggett United Baptist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Marsha Smith and fiancé, Roderick Berry; father and step-mother, Scott and Amy Smith; sister, Holly Smith (Shawn Elmore); brother, Travis Smith (Alisan); half-sister, Danika Khan; step-brother, Shawn Woosley; grandparents, Harold and Odeline VanMeter; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Trecy Smith and Arlie and Ann Tucker.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, (October 18, 2019) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Garry Watkins and Bro. Curtis Decker will be officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch General Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
A special time of memories from family and friends will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
