A suspect who fled a Kentucky State Police Trooper on foot has been arrested in Edmonson County after a multiagency search.

On Thursday morning at approximately 10:30, state police responded to a man walking on I-65 near the Park City exit. Police made contact with the subject, 21-year-old Marcelo L. Martinz, who was walking south at the 47 mile marker.

State police said Martinz became combative toward the trooper during their interaction, at which time the trooper attempted to place the suspect under arrest. Martinz, though, fled from police on foot into a wooded area.

With state police, the Barren and Edmonson County Sheriff’s Offices and Cave City Police Department searching for Martinz, he was located by Edmonson County deputies “behind a residence on Louisville Road, in Edmonson County,” according to authorities.

He was taken into custody and lodged in the Barren County Detention Center. He’s been charged with first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), fleeing or evading police (on foot), resisting arrest, stop/stand/park on limited access highway.
