(Leitchfield, KY) – It’s the biggest Halloween event in Grayson County happening this weekend.  The 5th Annual Scare on the Square will turn the Leitchfield Public Square into festival grounds Saturday morning, with activities from Noon – 10:00 p.m.  The admission is $1 and benefits the Grayson County Alliance Food Pantry.  Other events this week are as follows:

Friday, Oct. 18th:

Grayson County Alliance Food Pantry

The Grayson County Alliance will have food distribution on Friday, Oct. 19th from 9:00 a.m. – Noon.  If you would like to know if you qualify for free food distribution please call Debbie Childress at (270) 259-4000.

Bingo

The Grayson County Senior Center (Watkins Wood Drive in Leitchfield) will hold bingo on Monday at 9:45 a.m.

Leitchfield United Methodist Church Thrift Shop

The Leitchfield United Methodist Church Thrift Shop is open Fridays from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m..

Cougar Sports

GCMS Cheer Clinic

The GCMS Cheer Clinic for grades K-7 will be at the GCMS gym Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  Registration is $30 and begins at 8:15 a.m.

3rd Annual St. Paul Cancer Walk

The 3rd Annual St. Paul Cancer Walk will start with registration at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning at St. Paul Parish.  The walk is $25 and all proceeds benefit those in Grayson County battling cancer.  The money is donated to those families in the form of gas and food gift cards.

5th Annual Scare-On-The-Square

The 5th Annual Scare on the Square will be held on Saturday, October 19th from Noon – 10:00 p.m.  The event will feature the return of sideshow performs: Captain & Maybelle, Costume Contests, Games, Live Music, Food Vendors, and the 1st Annual Coffin Derby.  Admission is $1 per person and all proceeds benefit the Grayson County Alliance.

Pleasant View One-Room School Reunion

The Pleasant View One-Room School Reunion will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church in the fellowship hall.  Doors open at 12 Noon and lunch is potluck.

Calvert Community Church Benefit Fish Fry

Every Second Wednesday Senior Meal

St. Elizabeth Church at 306 Clifty Ave in Clarkson  hosts a senior dinner every second Wednesday of the month at 11 a.m.  Besides a good meal, there will also be entertainment, games, prizes and speakers.  All seniors are welcome.  For further information, call 270-784-1520.

A prayer team meets Wednesdays at noon at the GC Center for Women’s Ministries. All women are invited to attend the time of prayer & devotion.

Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery meets every Wednesday at The Well, across from the Leitchfield United Methodist Church, at 5:30 p.m. for a light meal, 6:00 p.m. for worship, and 7:00 p.m. for small group meetings.  Celebrate Recovery is for every person to help you grow as a person spiritually, and overcome hurts, habits, or hang-ups.  Daycare if available.

Evergreen pass times:

The skate park, basketball courts, and the Taylor Fork Trail is always a free option, and while you’re in the area, the Grayson County Public Library is another free option for all ages to enjoy.

The new playground at James D. Beville Park is now opened.  There is a walking path at this park, and a picnic pavilion and restrooms.

The Ed  Nichols Nature Trail in Clarkson is another free option.
