A motorist has been arrested after being clocked driving 105 miles per hour on the Western Kentucky Parkway.

At approximately 2:10 Saturday morning, Grayson County Deputy Zane Greer was patrolling the parkway when he clocked an eastbound Honda Pilot traveling at 105 mph near the Grayson/Hardin county line. Greer executed a traffic stop on the vehicle just over the Hardin County line, and while running the vehicle’s license plate he discovered the registration was expired.

Upon making contact with the driver, 27-year-old Darien S. Tatenhorst, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Greer detected the “strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” according to the arrest citation.

Greer also discovered Tatenhorst was driving on an expired operator’s license and could not produce proof of insurance.

Greer additionally said Tatenhorst “showed clues of drug use in his eyes,” according to the citation. Subsequently, the suspect was given two sobriety tests and arrested. He consented to a search of the vehicle and admitted smoking marijuana in the car prior to being pulled over. Greer did not locate drugs during a search of the Honda.

Tatenhorst was charged with DUI (non-alcohol), reckless driving, speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, driving on an expired operator’s license, failure to produce proof of insurance, no registration plate, and no other state registration receipt.

He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center but has since been released.
