Ann Elizabeth Sears Marshall, 95

Ann Elizabeth Sears Marshall, 95, of Leitchfield, entered into eternal rest Monday morning, November 18, 2019, in Hosparus Inpatient Unit Norton’s Pavilion in Louisville, KY. She was the wife of the late Leo Marshall for 52 years.

Ann was born November 7, 1924, in Wyoming, IA to Claude and Martha Williams Sears. She was a proud graduate of the University of Iowa with a BS in nursing in 1947, and a proud member of the Army Nurse Cadet Corps in Iowa City, IA during WWII. After college her first job was as a nursing instructor at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville before settling in Leitchfield where she and her husband, Leo, were active members in the community. Ann was a member of the St. Joseph Parish, St. Joseph Altar Society, Grayson County Historical Society and Leitchfield Women’s Club. She also volunteered many hours with the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts, at St. Paul, at St. Joseph, and Camp Greenshores.  Ann loved biking, traveling, baking, reading, bookkeeping, exercising at Joe’s with her friends and extended family, playing bridge, going to the ballet, watching the Golden State Warriors and swimming at Allen’s Lake.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Ashcraft of Aiken, SC and Mary Martha Horine (Dave) of Cincinnati, OH; one daughter in law, Jackie Marshall of Leitchfield, KY, and son Jim Marshall (Ann) of Leitchfield, KY. Also surviving are her brother Bill (Betty) Sears and her sister Claudia (Wick) Tobias both of Texas. She has 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren who live in England, KY, OH, GA, SC, VA, MO. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Leo and her sons Michael and John Marshall.

Visitation is on Friday, November 22, 2019, at Watson & Hunt from 4-7:30 PM CST with a prayer service at 6 PM CST. Funeral mass will be on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Leitchfield at 10:30 AM CST. Burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery with Fr. Tony Bickett officiating. There will be a reception at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall afterwards.
