Second elderly victim dies from injuries sustained in suspicious Owensboro house fire

A second elderly victim has died after suffering smoke inhalation during a residential fire at a home in the 3900 block of Kipling Drive in Owensboro.

According to the Owensboro Police Department, Shelby Lashbrook, 82, of Owensboro, died Saturday. The suspected arson fire occurred a little after 1:00 on the morning of December 27. State and local arson investigators were asked to collect evidence after the suspicious blaze.

David Lashbrook, 77, died two days after the fire.

The Owensboro Police Department Investigation Unit, Kentucky State Police Arson Investigators and the Owensboro Fire Department continue to work to determine the cause of the blaze.
