Samuel “Sammy” Ray Dennis, age 52, of Holly, KY, passed away Friday, (January 10, 2020) at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

Sammy was born on September 3, 1967 in Grayson County, KY, the son of Joyce “Mickey” Miller Dennis and the late Vernon Dennis.

Sammy was a dedicated Batchman for Lowe’s Concrete where he worked for 25 years. In his free time he enjoyed farming, was a loving Pap-Pap to his grandchildren and served as a mechanic to all the residents of Grayson County. He was a member of the Eveleigh Independent Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Leandra Higdon Dennis, two daughters, Tasha Lindsey (Jullian) and Shi Whitman (Brandon), both of Leitchfield; a son, Calvin Dennis of Eveleigh; three grandchildren, Chase and Khade Whitman, Gunner Reed Lindsey with Creed Samuel Lindsey on the way; his mother, Joyce “Mickey” Dennis; his mother-in-law, Ora Clements; two sisters, Bonnie Priddy (Roger) and Sue Griffin Mattingly (Roy) both of Leitchfield; two brothers, Wayne Dennis (Theresa) and Marty Dennis (Kellie) also of Leitchfield. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and an abundance of friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Dennis and an infant sister, LaWonna Dennis.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, (January 14, 2020) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Ed Cockerel and Bro. Tommy Pendergest will be officiating. Burial will be in the Holly Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
