Eagles soar past Cougars 72-47

The Ohio County Eagles came into the Cougar Den on Tuesday and flew home with a one-sided, 72-47 victory to drop the Cougars to 4-12 on the season.

Ohio County never trailed in the game after scoring the first seven points of the contest. They led by 13 points, 19-6 after the first period of play.

A three-pointer by Ohio’s Josh Manning at the 4:01 mark of the second period gave the Eagles their largest lead of the first half, 19 points at 33-14. Ohio County led by 14 points, 43-29 at the half.

The Eagles held the Cougars to just three points in the third quarter and increased their lead to 24 points, 56-32 heading into the fourth quarter.

Freshman Elijah Decker led the Eagles with 18 points, while senior Tripp Manning added 12. The Eagles finished the night by hitting 10 three-pointers.

Nolan Shartzer led the Cougars with 16 points and he added five rebounds. Keegan Sharp hit four three-pointers on the night for his 12 points. Jaxon Higdon hit three-threes and finished with 10 points. The Cougars hit eight threes on the night.

Chandler McCrady scored five points for the Cougars, while Nolan Hornbeck and Huinter Tomes both had two to complete the scoring. Tomes also finished with five rebounds.
