An Elizabethtown man has been jailed after viciously assaulting his girlfriend.

Bradley Williams, 31, is accused of strangling, punching and kicking his girlfriend as she held her son in her arms, according to The News-Enterprise. The assault occurred Sunday night at an apartment in the 700 block of Hawkins Drive.

Law enforcement was alerted after witnesses saw the victim being dragged and beaten outside the apartment. Upon arriving at the scene, police heard the victim screaming and crying inside the apartment.

When police entered the apartment through a back window after no one answered the door, officers had to physically restrain Williams as he refused their commands. He “smelled heavily of alcohol,” according to the newspaper, and a preliminary breath test showed his alcohol level at .155, nearly twice the legal limit to drive a motor vehicle.

The victim displayed swollen eyes, her neck was red and her hands swollen. She also had significant bruising. The victim said Williams began choking her inside the apartment and when she ran outside to get away, he dragged her and her son back inside, punching and kicking the victim along the way.

The victim’s young son suffered scrapes on his knees during the assault.

Williams was charged with first-degree strangulation, second-degree assault (domestic violence), unlawful imprisonment, second-degree wanton endangerment, fourth-degree assault (child abuse), resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and alcohol intoxication in a public place. He was also served with a parole violation for a felony offense.

He is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.
