Bishop Billy R. Mason, age 77, of Leitchfield, KY, went to be with the Lord on Monday, (January 20, 2020) at his home.
He was born in Henry County, Virginia on August 25, 1942 the son of the late Perry and Myrtle Chaney Mason.
He was Pastor & Founder of God’s Mission Full Gospel Church (5 years), Chaplain at Grayson Manor Nursing Home (18 years), and former Pastor at Church of God of Prophecy (53 years) and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hattie Sue Mason; daughter, Cathy Adkins and husband, Leo; daughter, Penny Gushiken and husband, Kevin; four grandchildren, Dedra Richardson (Cal), Ashleigh Gushiken, Winston Adkins, and Ryan Gushiken; three great-grandchildren, Emma Adkins, Landyn Adkins, and Jaxson Richardson; sister, Donna Peters; brother, Perry Alan Mason. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Janice Mason and Jonathan Mason; brothers, Robert Mason, R.E. “Dink” Mason, and Charlie Mason; and sisters, Maxine Hayes and Peggy Gilley.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, (January 25, 2020) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Dr. Alan Mason, Dr. Kevin Gushiken, and Rev. J.R. Smiley will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
