The head baseball coach at Bowling Green Junior High School has been arrested for trying to arrange sex with a juvenile.

On Thursday, the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit arrested 28-year-old LaVance R. Anderson, of Bowling Green. He was charged with prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor for sex, a class D felony.

The U.S. Secret Service, Bowling Green PD and Louisville Metro Police Department assisted with the arrest.

Attorney General Daniel Cameron said, “The investigation into Anderson’s activities was initiated after he contacted an undercover detective posing as a minor online.”

After the detective, posing as a juvenile, told Anderson “her age,” the suspect requested details about the person’s sexual history and requested the two engage in sex acts, according to Cameron. Officials added that Anderson also sent sexual images of himself to the “minor” and requested the “minor” send sexual images to him.

Anderson, who was hired in August 2019 as a teacher’s assistant at Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary School, was taken into custody on school grounds.

Cameron said Anderson admitted to communicating with a person he believed to be a minor about sex acts, and to sending sexually explicit images to that person over the internet.

He is lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
