A Pike County couple has been arrested after their three small children were found locked in rooms and covered in feces.

William Daniels, 28, and Cassidy Finley, 22, both of Pikeville, were charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree criminal abuse of a child under the age of 12 after Pikeville police officers responded to a welfare check at the couple’s residence.

When police entered the home, they found a two-year-old boy with no clothes on and covered in feces. The walls and floor of the room were also covered in feces, according to media reports. In a second room, which was littered with medication bottles, lighters and sharp objects, authorities located two small girls.

Police said that an adult male was located in a separate bedroom. He told authorities that he had a mental illness and was left with the children locked in their rooms while the parents were not home.

Finley and Daniels were later found at a Pikeville McDonald’s. They were arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.

The children were transported to Pikeville Medical Center for evaluation.
