A former fishing coach at McCracken County High School has pled guilty to child sex and child porn charges.

John Parks, 57, was originally charged with first-degree sexual abuse and 10 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor after he inappropriately touched, up to 100 times, a then 15-year-old McCracken County High School student. He also sent the student, who was on the fishing team, sexually inappropriate messages.

None of the sexual images Parks was in possession were of McCracken County High School students.

Under the plea agreement, prosecutors amended the sexual abuse charge and dropped nine of the possession charges. The agreement, if approved at sentencing, requires Parks to serve 12 months on the attempted abuse charge and 18 months on the possession charge. Those sentences will run concurrently for a total sentence of 18 months.

Formal sentencing is scheduled for April 17.
