Assisted living facilities and Grayson County’s two nursing home have placed restrictions on visitors as concerns over the coronavirus continue to grow.

Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation and Spring View Nursing & Rehab are currently not allowing any visitors. A sign posted on the entrance to Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation reads:

“Attention! Attention! Attention! No visitors until further notice per the Dept. of Health & CDC related to COVID-19 (coronavirus)”

Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation also has a police tape barrier in place (seen in photo) to alert would-be visitors of the temporary no visitation policy.

It’s unclear at this point how long visitation restrictions will be in place.

Officials at BeeHive Homes of Leitchfield and Parkland Manor Apartments are asking visitors who are sick to please not visit tenants of the facilities.

At Parkland Manor Apartments the ill tenants have been asked to stay in their apartments until they are well. A sign on the entrance to that facility tells tenants, “We are trying to cut down on germs, but we need your help.”

On Tuesday, Gov. Andy Beshear strongly urged nursing homes to cease visitation except for the families of patients receiving end-of-life care.

“I understand there are Kentuckians out there who worry they might not be able to see their loved one,” Beshear said. “I get that. But right now, we are making sure that we are protecting the life, health and safety of individuals in those facilities.”

Beshear announced Tuesday that two new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed, both in Harrison County. That brings the state’s total to eight diagnosed cases of the highly contagious virus. Of the eight cases of coronavirus in Kentucky, five originated in Harrison County, two in Fayette County and one in Jefferson County.
