Three more confirmed cases of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been diagnosed in Kentucky.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced Thursday the three new cases originated in Harrison, Fayette and Jefferson counties. The state now has 11 confirmed cases of COVID-19. The new Harrison County patient brings that county’s diagnosed COVID-19 cases to six, while Jefferson County has three confirmed cases and Fayette County two.

Beshear said that 51 tests for the new virus were negative.

The governor previously strongly urged schools in Kentucky to close for at least two weeks beginning on Monday, a recommendation Grayson County Schools Superintendent Doug Robinson and the Board of Education agreed with, as it was announced Thursday night that school in Grayson County will be out for three weeks beginning on Monday.

Beshear has also recommended that churches cancel services this week.

The Kentucky General Assembly will not meet on Friday or Monday but will reconvene on March 17.
