Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases now number 35 in Kentucky, including an eight-month-old baby in Jefferson County.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 late Wednesday afternoon. In addition to the eight-month-old baby, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer’s wife, Dr. Alexandra Gerassimides, has tested positive for the virus. Fischer, speaking to reporters said, “She’s doing fine,” when asked about her condition.

Beshear said the infant is in good condition and is being treated at home. The governor said it’s “very rare” for people under the age of 19 to be diagnosed with the virus and no one in that age group has yet been hospitalized.

One of the new cases was diagnosed in Warren County. Positive tests were also reported in Kenton and Franklin counties, giving those counties their first positive tests for COVID-19.

One of the new patients includes someone from either Harrison, Nicholas, Scott, or Bourbon county (the health department that covers that region did not specify which county the positive test originated in).

Currently, Jefferson County leads the state with 10 confirmed cases, while Fayette County has seven. One death, an elderly Bourbon County man, has been blamed on the virus, while two people have recovered from the illness, one in Harrison County and one in Montgomery County.

Beshear on Wednesday also announced he is suspending all charitable gaming licenses, including bingo. He additionally extended benefits, including SNAP and Medicaid, for three months so recipients do not have to enter offices.

In another move to create social distancing, the governor said banks will close their lobbies to customers, but drive-thru and online banking will continue to operate as normal.

He again emphasized there is no reason to stockpile food and household products, as the supply chain continues to be strong.
