The Leitchfield Police Department has posted on its Facebook page an expression of appreciation for the many acts of kindness the department has been the recipient of since the inception of the coronavirus pandemic.

On Thursday, Wayne Meriwether, CEO of Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center, recognized and thanked many local businesses and individuals who have donated items to the hospital that are critical to the healthcare community.

While unsurprising, the many acts of kindness directed toward local law enforcement, healthcare workers, fire departments, EMS, and many others, demonstrates once again that Grayson County residents step-up when the road narrows and the going gets tough.

Below is the Leitchfield Police Department’s statement of appreciation to the Grayson County community:

(For the donation of several coupons to local restaurants) the Leitchfield Police Department said thank you to the employees of Buckles, Travis, Vanmeter & Hart for your kindness today!

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their cooperation and kindness during this difficult time. All of us here at the Leitchfield Police Department appreciate every kind word and the support that we are currently receiving from members of our community.

You have no idea how much our officers appreciate just knowing that our community supports us and cares for our well-being while our entire nation is under siege from this pandemic.

We would like to thank all other first responders in our area, Police, Dispatchers, EMS, Fire, Sheriff’s Department, Kentucky State Police, Constables, Animal Control, Public Works, Utilities, and medical personnel who are on the front lines every day.

A very special thank you goes to all the “essential” personnel working to keep our community supplied with food, water, groceries, and everything else to keep us going! We hope when this is all over, everyone will remember just how important they truly are and will show more appreciation towards them.

Together as a community we will get through this!
